ZTE Guest Lecture: Overview of 5G
On 20 November 2023, the School of Electrical Engineering and Artificial Intelligence (SEEAI) invited an honorary industrial speaker from ZTE (Malaysia) Corporation (中兴通讯股份有限公司) to deliver a guest lecture on “Overview of 5G”. About 50 staff and students from the school joined the guest lecture.

In the guest lecture, Mr. Steven Poh How Sing, the 5G coach from ZTE, gave an insightful lecture on the evolution of mobile network technologies (1G to 5G) and the technologies that the 5G technology could enable. 5G Technology stands for 5th generation mobile technology. 5G denotes the next major phase of mobile telecommunication standards beyond the upcoming 4G standards. The 5G technology is expected to deliver multi-Gbps throughput, massive network capacity, and ultra-low latency. Mr. Steven ended the guest lecture by giving an overview of the roles of various mobile network engineers in the industry.

Mr. Steven Poh How Sing graduated from Multimedia University with a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) Electronics majoring in Computer in 2006. He has more than 15 years of total experience in the telecommunication field. He started as an RF engineer for 3G project in 2006. He also has planning and optimization experience for 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G technologies in Malaysia and overseas projects in Vietnam, Taiwan, Thailand, and Indonesia. Mr. Steven is currently working as 5G coach at ZTE Corporation. His working experience involved in swap, rollout, re-farming, modernization, manage service, and VIP complaint projects.
